You Helped Orphans In Nepal After An Earthquake
![]() ORPHANS IN NEPAL ARE THE MOST VULNERABLE EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
As Nepal loses its place in the headlines, the cry for help only gets louder. Children are literally becoming orphans as you read this. An estimated 1.7+ million children have been affected by the two devastating earthquakes that hit Nepal recently. Surpassing any known natural disaster in Nepal’s history, these earthquakes rattled the nation, claiming 8,500 lives, injuring far more, and leaving new orphans in its wake. And the death toll continues to climb.
Orphans and vulnerable children are at high risk for starvation, sickness, abuse, neglect and trafficking. More and more children are becoming orphans every day. Thousands of children are left to fend for themselves. Reports from the ground are rushed and frantic.
40 orphans are sleeping outside in tents because their orphanage was badly damaged and is not safe. The monsoon rains are on the horizon, so this makeshift housing won’t be an option soon. Funds are needed to get these orphans into substantial shelter, provide food and water for them and keep them from the dangers of nature and strangers seeking to exploit them. In the midst of chaos, stories are emerging of people disguising themselves as rescuers in an attempt to harvest children more easily into the Asia and Africa sex trade routes.

Disease is another issue. Cholera, dysentery, and other water-borne diseases are all feared to ravage the nation due to its susceptible state. If families aren’t treated and provided with basic shelter, food and water access, disease will be the cause of many families torn apart and children orphaned.
![]() A Family for Every Orphan has partnered with Christian leaders in Nepal and India, which has also been affected by the earthquake, who are working tirelessly to reach out to orphans and families in need. These Christian leaders make up the Nepal Without Orphans movement (NWO) from every region of Nepal.
Nepal Without Orphans works with many orphanages, churches and communities throughout Nepal and is focusing on family strengthening at this point. The highest needs after reunification of children with their family are food, water and medical care.
Your gift today will go directly to help these efforts. Right now, will you pray for Nepal, consider giving to help, and share Nepal’s story alongside us?
