Galina Obrovets spearheads the Orphan Initiative movement in Moscow, Russia, motivating Russian Christians to adopt orphans through conferences, church presentations, contacts with government officials, the media, and other means. Galina coordinated the production of a Russian film called, “The Orphan and I: God’s Family” which, in 2009 alone, was shown to 182,787 people in Russia, including 102 churches. Some regional local agencies are now using this film to encourage more families to consider adoption and foster care. As a result of these efforts, approximately 340 children were adopted by Russian Christian families in 2009, and more than another 120 believers are currently in the adoption process.
